Norcross Department of Economic Development

As part of the City's Network Norcross program, work spaces have been provided to not-for-profits, SCORE and ACE (Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs) as a way to encourage stabilization and growth within our business community. Both provide free business mentorship.

SCORE permanently joined our city in May/ ACE in June.

Both organizations were asked to give an update on "progress within Norcross", during Monday night's Mayor & Council Work Session.

Maria Peck and Grace Fricks of ACE (Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs) both graciously accepted our invitation, effectively delivering positive statistics: "Since April we have trained 498 clients and provided one-on-one consultations to 110 clients (out of the Norcross office).

Peter Hildebrandt, unable to attend this month's meeting sent the following, read by Rusty Warner:

Since we opened the Norcross office, we’ve counseled 160 small business owners with five top-notch SCORE mentors:

· Rayann Larsen – former owner of The WorkSpot in Duluth and NexLabs founder
· Charlie Riehm – Norcross city councilman and former Hayes Modem executive
· Steve Kindrick – Norcross manufacturing business owner employing 40 people
· Juliet Denise – Franchise expert and former Senior VP of Barclays Capital
· Peter Luckhurst – Former Teavana Executive Vice President who helped sell the business to Starbucks

Each of these clients is starting or operating a small business in the Norcross Area, which creates new jobs, raises the tax base, and makes Norcross a better place to live. All of this at no cost to the small business owners. There’s not a much better way to improve the business of the area.
