Go around the world in just one day without leaving downtown Norcross as the City of Norcross and Presenting Sponsor Gwinnett Village Community Improvement District present the Gateway International Food & Music Festival on September 17 from 4 – 8 p.m. at Lillian Webb Park. Held in conjunction with Welcoming America’s Welcoming Week, this event will showcase the region’s best multicultural talent and highlight the rich cultural contributions of Gwinnett’s diverse communities.

The festival will feature a variety of outstanding performers and showcase the area’s cultural heritage through food, dance and music. The festival will also have a craft market and a kid’s zone with fun activities for children of all ages. In addition, international and local food vendors will be selling delectable tastes of their home countries. Also onsite will be a "Pop-Up" Norcross Community Market where festivalgoers can experience this premier producer-only farmers market. Cultural performances will begin at 5:30 p.m. and a family movie in the park will begin at dusk.

“At the City of Norcross, we strive to be an inclusive community where the culture is shaped by all members of the community and celebrated at events like the Gateway International Food & Music Festival,” commented City of Norcross Mayor Bucky Johnson. “Our partnership with Welcoming America echoes and celebrates Norcross’ commitment to inclusiveness and building a special kind of community.”

As one of four official "welcoming cities" in Georgia, this event is a part of Welcoming America’s Welcoming Week held on September 16-25. Welcoming Week is an annual series of events where communities bring together immigrants and U.S.-born residents in a spirit of unity to raise awareness of the benefits of welcoming everyone – including new Americans. Last year, there were 245 events in over 80 communities during Welcoming Week, with more than 22,000 people participating.

So, bring the whole family and enjoy food, dance, music and crafts from around the world while celebrating the cultural diversity of Gwinnett County without leaving the park! For more information, visit aplacetoimagine.com.
