Decorated Veteran Dewey Earnest to Keynote May 29th Event

The City of Norcross will be hosting a patriotic celebration for Memorial Day on May 29th in Thrasher Park beginning at 11:30 a.m. that will include food, music and a special guest speaker. Headlining the event, decorated veteran Dewey Earnest, will speak at noon followed by a performance by the Steve Dwiggins Trio. Hotdogs will be provided by the Masonic Lodge.

The May 29th Memorial Day Celebration is just the beginning of an exciting lineup of summertime events for Norcross. The city will also be hosting the Summer Concert Series beginning on May 26; the Bluesberry Music and Beer Festival on June 17; Jazz in the Alley beginning on June 24; and Red White and BOOM on July 3. Join historic Norcross this summer in grooving to 80’s music, singing along to Jimmy Buffett tunes and swaying to cool jazz. All concerts are free and local restaurants are happy to create the perfect picnic for concert and event goers.

“We are thrilled to offer our citizens and friends of Norcross a celebration of summer through these events and a fantastic concert series,” said City of Norcross Mayor Bucky Johnson. “We invite everyone to come out and enjoy the creative energy of our city.”

The Summer Concert Series kicks off on Friday, May 26 and continues thru September in Thrasher Park. On June 17, the Bluesberry Music and Beer Festival will be held in Betty Mauldin Park and Jones St. from 3  – 10 p.m. Your mood will surely lighten with the lineup of blues musicians set to entertain into the evening. Don’t forget to look for Norcross’ downtown merchants and restaurants that will be creating signature “Bluesberry” cocktails, desserts, specials and more! Jazz in the Alley returns once again on June 24 as Betty Mauldin Park is transformed into a street party with a funky vibe for four great concerts into September. And summertime wouldn’t be complete with a celebration of America’s Independence. On July 3, the City of Norcross will light up night sky at its signature Red White & BOOM celebration complete with fireworks and family fun.
