NOTICE: Gravel Railroad Parking Lot Improvements

The City is undertaking a phased effort to improve the gravel railroad lot and expand the parking to serve downtown businesses. The first phase will involve removal of the existing large crepe myrtles and grading to expand the parking area. The expanded parking area will be widened toward South Peachtree St and lengthened toward Autry Street, with a fence to be erected adjacent to the railroad tracks. It is the City’s intention to replant 2 crepe myrtles for each 1 removed. The replanting will be done in the second major phase, in which a sidewalk/streetscape is planned along South Peachtree Street from Veterans Park to Holcomb Bridge. The final future phase would be construction of a formalized asphalt parking lot where the existing gravel lot now exists, pending approval by the railroad.
