[ARCHIVED] Feet on the Street

2019_NorcrossWebsite_NewsflashIcons6

Our Feet on the Street recycling improvement program is almost through Week #2 of 4! Thank you to everyone who has corrected the contents of their cart, reached out with thoughtful questions, and put in the effort to recycle right! If your cart has been tagged with an “Oops” Tag, don’t worry. Just make sure to remove the contamination indicated on the tag from your cart, remove the “Oops” Tag, and your cart will be serviced at your next scheduled pick-up day.

Here are a few guidelines to keep in mind:

NO Plastic Bags and Plastic Tanglers (plastic wrap and packaging, bubble wrap, etc.) When plastic bags and plastic wrap are taken to the facility that sorts out our curbside recycling, they get caught in the sorting machines and must be manually cut out of the machine by employees. This causes a safety hazard and halts sorting for an average of 2 hours every day!

NO Bagged Recyclables. When bagged recyclables are taken to the recycling sorting facility, employees are not able to open the bags and sort through the bagged contents. Instead, the bags are treated as regular garbage and are sent to the landfill. Make sure to place individual items into your cart, loose. This allows all your recycling to be sorted, processed, and made into new products!

Please remember only #1-2 Plastic Bottles and Jugs; Paper, Cartons, and Cardboard; and Aluminum and Steel Cans can be recycled curbside. For more information visit our Feet on the Street webpage, or contact the Community Development Department by emailing communitydevelopment@norcrossga.net, or calling 678-421-2027.
