[ARCHIVED] Norcross Was Chosen as a Recipient of TPL's Technical Assistance Program

Some of the Norcross team just got back from Augusta where they attended the Georgia Outdoor Recreation and Trails Summit (May 14-16), co-sponsored by the Trust for Public Land (TPL). As part of preparation for the summit, TPL offered a technical assistance program for jurisdictions to participate in developing concept plans for future trails. Thanks to Michael McPherson with the Georgia Municipal Association, Norcross was put in touch with TPL earlier this year and was ultimately chosen as one of the recipients of TPL's technical assistance program. We were assigned to work with a team of planners from Gresham Smith and Alta Engineering, and focused on developing concepts for the Southeast Utility Trail Corridor that is featured prominently in both the city’s Comprehensive Plan and Buford Highway Master Plan. We presented the process and conceptual drawings to Summit attendees yesterday, and with these concepts in hand members of PG&T and city staff are preparing to meet with Georgia Power in the coming weeks to determine how the envisioned trail between Jimmy Carter Blvd and N. Norcross Tucker Road might come to fruition!
