[ARCHIVED] Winter Storm Watch beginning Friday evening through Saturday

Gwinnett County has been placed under a Winter Storm Watch beginning Friday evening through Saturday afternoon. The current forecast indicates the area could receive 1-6” of snow during this time period. The City of Norcross wants to notify its citizens and the general public to begin necessary preparations. Norcross Public Works & Norcross Power have made plans to be on site all Friday thru Saturday to aid in any storm related issues.


Advisories:
·The Winter Storm Watch is in effect 7pm Friday through 1pm Saturday.
·This watch may be upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning, or Winter Storm Advisory

Primary Threats and Impacts:
· The current forecast models are predicting a heavy snowfall for our area that include accumulations of 1 - 6 inches of snow or greater.
· Temperatures will be in the mid-20s
· Roads will become hazardous, and could lead to a total freeze over of roads and bridges and overpasses.

Timing:
·The current forecast shows the storm impacting the Atlanta area around 7PM on Friday, and snow continuing to fall through early Saturday afternoon.
