Construction Hours Variances

Posted on: August 16, 2019

[ARCHIVED] Lillian Webb Park Variance - 8/17

Pursuant to the new noise ordinance, New South has requested and been granted a variance from the requirements for construction noise for Saturday, August 17, 2019. They will begin a concrete pour no earlier than 8:00 AM.

Several thunderstorms during the week of August 12 have slowed site preparation for a significant slab on grade pour for Building 2000 that was originally scheduled for Friday, August 16. The extreme temperatures experienced this week necessitate beginning the concrete pour as earlier as possible, both for the safety of the workers and the time required for the concrete to be placed and finished.

The timing of this pour is critical as it must be complete before the last section of Building 2000 slabs are poured the week of August 19 prior to wood framing that is scheduled to begin on Building 2000. If the concrete pour is pushed back to the week of August 19, the wood framing would be delayed which, in turn, delays the critical path of the project.

Upon the City’s approval of this variance, New South will provide electronic notification to the contacts we have at Parkside and provide written notification of the early start to these residents and any other nearby residential properties.

The location of this pour is in the southeast corner of the site close to Buford Highway. This is well away from the Parkside homes. Access to the pour will be through the adjacent Library site, and the wood framing in place for Building 4000 should provide some buffer for the noise. There are no expected risks to public health and safety.
