City Icon Sign

2 trees will be removed and replaced in the downtown area and another 1 near the entrance to Thrasher Park. In addition, the 4 elm trees in front of Paizanos/Zapata’s/Purple Poppy/Iron Horse will be trimmed. The work will entail some street and sidewalk closures while the trees are being removed and the stumps ground out.

Below is the schedule of when and where the street/sidewalk closures will occur. The times are approximate and the schedule is weather dependent.

Location:
2 trees at 51 (Anna Balkan) and 73B (Good Things) S. Peachtree Street.
1 tree near entrance to Thrasher Park on Park Drive; located between side walk and curb (across from the veterinarian office).

Utility locate – Valley Crest (the contractor) is handling this.

The work is scheduled the week of January 6 as follows:

Monday 1/6
- Mini lights removed from trees early morning.
- Trees cut and elms trimmed (tree trimming will not entail closing road or sidewalk).
- S. Peachtree will be closed from mid-block crosswalk to Holcomb Bridge Road. Approximately 7:00am to mid – late morning.
- A sign will be placed at Jones & S. Peachtree indicating customers have access to S. Peachtree but it is not open to thru traffic).
- Sidewalk will also be closed from 51 S. Peachtree (Anna Balkan) to 73B (Good Things).
- Park Drive from Thrasher Street to N. Peachtree will be closed after the tree removal on S. Peachtree is complete (late morning for several hours).

Sidewalk and areas of the park closest to the work will also be closed off.

The goal is to have the trees cut prior to businesses opening, or shortly after; the City will minimize time the street and sidewalk are closed as much as possible; some cleanup work may continue after the street/sidewalk are opened.

Tuesday 1/7
- Stump removal/cleanup.
- S. Peachtree will be closed from mid-block crosswalk to Holcomb Bridge Road.
- A sign indicating no thru traffic will be in place.
- Sidewalk will also be closed from 51 S. Peachtree (Anna Balkan) to 73B (Good Things). Approximately 7:30am to mid – late morning.

The goal is to have the stumps ground prior to businesses opening; the City will minimize time the street and sidewalk are closed as much as possible; some cleanup work may continue after the street/sidewalk are opened.

Park Drive from Thrasher Street to N. Peachtree will be closed after the stump removal on S. Peachtree is complete (mid-morning for an hour).

Sidewalk and areas of the park closest to the work will also be closed off.

Wednesday 1/8

- Some parking spaces on S. Peachtree may be blocked temporarily while trees are being delivered.

Wednesday/Thursday 1/8 – 9
- Repair conduit and wiring as necessary.
- Reinstall liriope and mulch in tree beds.
- Timing for this work is dependent on completion of tree installation.

Friday 1/10

Any concerns or questions should be directed to the Norcross Public Works Department at 678.421.2069.
