Public Safety Building
Project Overview
The City is building a brand-new Public Safety Building that will be home to both the Police Department and Municipal Court! It’s going up on the site of the former Norcross Library, right at the corner of Buford Highway and Stevens Road. We’ve got a powerhouse team bringing this project to life: CROFT & Associates designed the building, Turner & Townsend Heery/AEI is managing the project, and Reeves Young is leading the construction. Big things are happening—stay tuned!
Construction Phase
Norcross’s new Public Safety Building is quickly taking shape, bringing a modern, purpose-built facility for the Police Department and Municipal Court.
Rising on the site of the former Norcross Library at Buford Hwy. and Stevens Rd., the 42,252-square-foot facility is beginning to look like the architect’s original vision. Framing is nearly complete, exterior brickwork is underway along Buford Highway and windows are scheduled for installation. The project team expects the building to be “dried in” (weather-tight) within the next four weeks. Progress is also visible behind the building, where a portion of the secured rear parking lot has been paved.
When complete, the building will include approximately 2,600square feet of public-facing meeting space, along with more than 4,000 square feet of unfinished space reserved for future needs. The project remains on schedule formid-August completion.

As of December 18, construction on the new Public Safety Building is on schedule. Crews have nearly finished installing the building’s structural steel, which is shown in the latest photos and video. Work is now underway on interior wall framing, exterior retaining walls and final site grading.

Large underground stormwater pipes are being installed to manage runoff, and heavy equipment is preparing the site for the foundation. As of August 6, grading is well underway, and the building pad is taking shape as crews prepare for foundation work. Heavy equipment is on-site, leveling and compacting the ground to get ready for the next phase.

As of July 30, construction is underway at the Public Safety Building site following a successful start with land clearing and site prep on July 14. Foundation work is scheduled to begin next week, marking the next big step forward.
